Pam and Rob met in late 2015 and humorously refer to themselves as a “21st Century couple”. They did not meet through mutual friends, school or work, but rather through a dating app called: “Coffee Meets Bagel”. Now if you’ve ever been on a dating app, you’ll know that more often than not it usually requires a bit of weeding through to find the gems; but fortunately for Pam, Rob just so happened to be her first match. Crazy right! *cue the envious sighs*
But it wasn’t quite that simple as they had their first date (which I’m told felt more like an interview at the time than a date) at a Chinese restaurant in Arcadia. Pam didn’t really hear from Rob again until several weeks later… luckily for Rob however, Pam did agree to a 2nd date after all that time and by their 3rd date at Descanso Gardens the two were inseparable. According to Rob, that 3rd date was “magical” and the moment that they really started to feel something for each other.
The Proposal
Pam and Rob had taken a trip to Hawaii, to the beautiful island of Maui, back in May 2016. They had already been ring shopping, but the ring wasn’t going to be ready in time for the trip, so Pam wasn’t expecting a proposal. Little did she know that Rob came with a backup plan; he had brought a second ring so he could surprise her anyways.
So after dinner on their first day there, Rob suggested they take a stroll along the beaches of Kihei under the beautiful sunset. Along their stroll he eventually found a secluded spot with a large rock and stopped there. At this point he then whipped around (with a heartbeat of at least 100 miles an hour), pulled out the ring, got down on one knee, and stammered a proposal. Pam was in complete shock. After a few seconds of silence, Rob repeated his proposal and Pam of course said “Yes!”
During our first meeting these two had me in stitches with all of their stories; from their first date, to their “meeting the parents” moment and to their full proposal story (that has to be heard from both sides… because it is hilarious and completely adorable. But I am going to wait to share Pam’s side of the story in their wedding blog next month, so stay tuned!) They have so many fun moments between the two of them that have led them to where they are now.
I’ve had an absolute ball getting to know them and can hardly wait for their wedding!! In the meantime, enjoy some of my favorites from their epic engagement session below!
