As your friendly neighborhood Dallas wedding photographer, I’m coming at you today with some tips and tricks to help answer another big wedding day question: what to wear under your wedding dress?
Let’s talk about these unsung heroes of bridal attire: the 7 must-haves that will ensure you and your wedding day attire are not only stunning but also incredibly comfortable. I’m all about helping you feel like a million bucks while dancing the night away, so let’s dive into some of these essentials:
Misses Kisses Bra
Ladies, say hello to your new best friend! The Misses Kisses Bra is designed to give you that perfect blend of support and style, catering to different dress necklines with ease. Whether it’s a plunging neckline, intricate and low back or an elegant halter, this bra’s got you covered (and still manages to make the girls look great!) You’ll be dancing the night away without a worry!
Another great bonus about this company is that Misses Kisses does consultations and fittings to help you find exactly the right product for you and your dress.
Shape-wear
Feeling confident and beautiful on your wedding day is #1! That is why so many brides opt to wear shape-wear under their dresses. Shape-wear can work wonders to smooth out those lines and create a flawless silhouette! When choosing shape-wear, consider the neckline and structure of your dress. In addition, choose an option that matches your skin tone, and not your dress!
Heel Stoppers
Also called heel protectors, these tiny plastic pieces will be your secret weapon if you’re having an outdoor ceremony. Heel stoppers slide onto the bottom of your heel and protect it from sinking into soft grass, dirt, or gravel at your venue.
Perks of wearing this under your dress? First, you’re going to keep your beautiful heels much cleaner. Second, you’re going to get extra insurance against trips and falls – and help prevent a wobbly walk down the aisle. (I got married on the sand… and I, unfortunately, look as though I penguin walked down the entire aisle… 1/10 do not recommend, if you can avoid it, ha!)
Anti-Chafing Balm
You will be moving a lot on your wedding day! From walking down the aisle, to mingling during cocktail hour, and even as you dance the night away. An anti-chafing balm can prevent discomfort on the day of your wedding, as well as after! That way you can enjoy every moment of your wedding day – and the days that follow. Body Glide Anti-Chafing Balm is a great option as it withstands humidity and heat, while being super gentle on your skin.
Wedding Dress Train Lift
Rocking a fabulous train? Don’t fret about tripping over it! This device allows you to lift and secure your wedding dress train, making it a lot easier to move around. You will get to show off the majestic beauty of your train as you walk down the aisle and pose for wedding pictures. And you will have the convenience of moving around without your train getting stepped on as you dance and mingle throughout the day. It’s practical, easy to use and is easily hidden under the dress.
Fashion Tape
Keep every detail in place with fashion tape. Whether it’s securing a plunging neckline, or keeping straps in check, this handy tool is your ally against any wardrobe malfunctions. It secures your dress to your skin, wherever needed, to help keep everything in place and covered. That way you’re not wasting any time worrying about slip-ups!
Petticoat
The obvious reason to turn to a petticoat for what to wear under your wedding dress is for the volume. It will give you beautiful fulness and shape. Depending on your gown’s structure and style, it can be extremely flattering and give you that extra wow factor!
But, the lesser-known reason is that it keeps your dress off your legs, making it significantly easier to walk and dance around in. While also allowing for more airflow; keeping you significantly cooler in this Texas heat!
I personally used one on my wedding day and it was one of the best decisions I made! I swear it kept me 20 degrees cooler under that hot and humid Jamaican sun.

BONUS TIP! Sweat-proof Undershirt For your Groom
Texas heat can be quite the challenge, but fear not! Outfitting your groom with a sweat-proof undershirt will keep him looking calm, cool and confident throughout the day’s festivities.
Sweat-proof undergarments come in tons of different cuts and colors; pick a color that matches your groom’s skin tone or the color of his dress shirt. Also, be wary of necklines—pick one that isn’t too high and won’t peep through.
