The Room on Main Wedding | Laura + John

Laura and John’s wedding day was a celebration of love, tradition, and stunning venues, reflecting the heart of Dallas at every turn. From the meaningful ceremony at the church where Laura grew up. To the stylish downtown reception with sweeping views of the Dallas skyline, their wedding was a perfect blend of elegance and personal touches. Let’s dive into each beautiful detail of their day!

Getting Ready at The Highland Dallas

The day began at The Highland Dallas, Hilton, where they all prepared for the big day. Tease to Please worked their magic on hair and makeup, ensuring everyone looked picture-perfect, literally. Laura looked radiant in her first dress, an elegant off-the-shoulder gown by Rebecca Ingram, which she found at Lasting Bridal Couture. The atmosphere was filled with excitement and a few emotional moments as Laura and John exchanged heartfelt gifts, delivered by their wedding party. But also as the reality of what was just about to come started to set in.

First Look & Wedding Party Portraits at Goar Park

Laura and John’s first look took place at Centennial/Goar Park, a location close to Laura’s heart and filled with nostalgic charm. The park’s gazebo gave Laura her “Cinderella Story” moment (which John very cutely encouraged), bringing her wedding dreams to life in a beautiful setting.

Their incredibly high-energy and fun wedding party joined them for portraits halfway through. The groomsmen in sharp, dark navy suits with red ties from Generation Tux and the bridesmaids in an array of dusty blue dresses from David’s Bridal.

With the lush greenery, a shimmering pond and an epic water fountain feature as a backdrop, it was an incredibly gorgeous and diverse backdrop for their portraits.

Ceremony at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church

For the ceremony, Laura and John chose St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, the same church Laura attended as a child. This was more than just a beautiful setting, as it held personal meaning for Laura. She had always dreamed of getting married there one day. Her connection to the church, combined with the presence of loved ones, made the ceremony especially moving.

A Dallas Skyline Reception at The Room on Main

Following the ceremony, guests gathered at The Room on Main, a historic venue that boasts floor-to-ceiling windows with a panoramic view of the Dallas skyline. The sixth-floor reception hall provided an enchanting setting for an unforgettable evening. Laura shared that she fell in love with the 1920s dance floor and the open, airy space, and John soon shared her enthusiasm after their first tour. With its gorgeous wooden flooring and iconic city views, it was the perfect location for this elegant, modern style.

The décor reflected their wedding colors of navy, dusty blue, maroon, soft pink, and gold, with Roses & More filling the space with stunning centerpieces that brought the room to life. The florals featured a harmonious blend of reds, pinks, whites, and rich greenery, adding a touch of romance and elegance to this already beautiful space.

Reception Highlights

Laura and John’s reception was filled with memorable moments that kept their guests entertained and engaged. They kicked off with the classic “Shoe Game,” bringing plenty of laughter and fun. As proud Texas A&M alumni, they also played the Aggie War Hymn, where their fellow Aggies joined in. This was such a fun addition to the night! The couple’s send-off was also beautiful! Since the venue didn’t allow sparklers, check out their unique alternative below!

The cakes, crafted by Dallas Affairs Cake Co., were as beautiful as they were delicious. The couple’s traditional wedding cake was ornately decorated with delicate white, pink, and blue florals, topped with an adorable couple’s cake topper. In a nod to their Texas A&M pride, the groom’s cake was a standout, showcasing an A&M-inspired design.

For dinner, CN Catering provided a delicious meal that guests raved about! And the dance floor was packed all night long thanks to DJ Joel Morris. The energy in the room was electric, and the couple’s joy was contagious, creating a celebration that their guests won’t soon forget.

The Room on Main Wedding

With all that said, what truly made this wedding so special was seeing Laura and John, who began their journey together with a proposal at Arbor Hills Nature Preserve (check out their Arbor Hills proposal story here), finally tie the knot in front of family and friends. Their love story is a beautiful reminder of how meaningful moments add up to create the most magical days. And their wedding day was the culmination of all the love, laughter, and memories they’ve shared so far.

When asked what they were most excited about, Laura and John shared that it was simply to be married and celebrate with everyone they love. And celebrate they did, surrounded by the perfect blend of elegant decor, meaningful traditions, and the people who matter most.
