Emily and Chris decided to tie the knot at the lovely Milestone Denton, and I was happy to be included as their Dallas wedding photographer! This couple is genuine and spunky, and I loved being able to capture their fun relationship. Let’s explore their love story!
First Meeting
Emily and Chris met because Emily was initially friends with his sister; so they’ve known each other for over 10 years! But things didn’t start to heat up until they started chatting in 2018. Shortly after, Chris took Emily to a friend’s wedding. And in Emily’s words: “We spent the entire time talking to each other and ignoring everyone else.”
How Did You Know They Were the One?
Within a few dates, both were smitten. When I asked them when they “knew” they were with the person they were going to spend forever with. Chris and Emily were on the same page…
In his words:
“Our second date didn’t take place until probably two months after the first one due to the long-distance relationship. She lived in Round Rock at the time and I’m in Denton. It was that date that I knew. We had been talking about things a lot in the time between dates and really gotten to know each other, but it was that date when I knew.”
In her words:
“I knew so fast. I think maybe one of our first few dates. He was so open and honest and vulnerable, didn’t play any games. And we just meshed perfectly.”
The Proposal
I love how down-to-earth and genuine these two are. Their proposal story is the sweetest thing! When asked about the proposal, Chris said that initially, his nerves kept his proposal from going according to plan:
“We went to a steak restaurant in Dallas for dinner that night, sometime in December. It wasn’t all that great, unfortunately. I had the ring in my pocket, but chose not to propose at dinner.”
So, they headed out for a romantic Christmas date. Emily said:
“It was a cold day, we both had big jackets on. After dinner he took me driving around to look at Christmas lights, which is one of my favorite things to do! He told me later he had intended to find someplace to stop and get out and walk around where there were lots of lights, but he never found the right place. We ended up driving around for 3 hours, and he finally just pulled over at the park a block away from the house and did it in the car!”
Even so, the proposal was wonderfully unexpected. Emily said, “When he asked if I’d marry him, I said, “Are you sure?” I was just so surprised!” Chris said, “She was so stunned that she tripped over her words.”
Milestone Denton Wedding Photography
Emily and Chris loved the Milestone Denton because, in their words, it’s “effing beautiful.” And I one hundred percent agree! Tall columns, coffered ceilings and glittering chandeliers create a timeless elegance. I especially love the entryway staircase, which created a dynamic backdrop for their first look and portrait photos.
The Milestone Denton is full of light. Large, open windows and sunlight create a soft and elegant ambiance. To read more on this incredible venue, check out my full review here.

And can’t wait to see where their love story takes them next! Now, without further ado, I hope you enjoy a glimpse into their perfect day!
