Today I’m sharing about this stunning gem of nature called Prairie Creek Park, located just 25 minutes north of Dallas.

The Location

Nestled in a beautiful neighborhood in Richardson, Prairie Creek Park is a favorite among many for engagement sessions! The park has so many beautiful backdrops, you could spend hours here and never get bored.

Some of its highlights include open fields (that have beautiful flower patches in the spring), lush trees, long and winding walking paths, a creek, and a stunning and unique stone waterfall. There are also several interesting bridges and a gazebo that make for great photo opportunities as well. The park is well-maintained, clean and just exceptionally beautiful. And because of this, it is an incredibly popular place for portrait sessions of all kinds (on a busy day, you can expect to wait in line for up to 45mins for your turn at the waterfall – and even then you’ll be lucky to have it alone).

So, when planning your own Prairie Creek Park engagement session, I highly recommend aiming for a weekday afternoon/evening (Mon-Thurs) for the least amount of crowds.  Or better yet, maybe even consider a sunrise session to avoid crowds altogether.

Why Is Prairie Creek Park Great For Engagement Photoshoots?

I firmly believe that the perfect place to capture your engagement photos is one that is special to you as a couple. (Still need help figuring that out? But, with its picturesque waterfall, lush greenery, unique stone structures and peaceful atmosphere; Prairie Creek Park provides a lovely backdrop for couples who value nature. And/or simply want a stunning natural environment, that offers something a little different, for their engagement photos.

Whether you choose to have your photos taken in the springtime when the flowers are in bloom or in the autumn when the leaves are changing color, Prairie Creek Park will be sure to take your breath away.

This location is also wonderful for other portrait sessions and even your DFW wedding photography. But keep in mind that the area around the waterfall can be difficult to maneuver around with all the rocks. So, it’s best to keep to a smaller group when shooting around there specifically.
