Rockwall Engagement | Ashley + Steven

Some love stories just feel like they’re meant to be, and Ashley and Steven’s is definitely one of them. He’s a dedicated police officer and she’s a passionate teacher, so you can imagine how much heart there is between these two. And together, they’ve built something truly beautiful.

For their engagement session we headed to Rockwall plaza by the lake. A spot where they’ve shared a couple of big milestones already. But, more on that in a minute! First, let’s dive into their love story beginnings!

How They Met: A Bumble Love Story

Ashley and Steven’s journey began on Bumble in November 2023. And let’s just say, their first date was as memorable as it was comical…

Ashley shared, “It was at Burger House. Funny story, he was running late and when we got there, I described the parking lot to him and he was like… “are we at the same place?” Turns out I was at the wrong place! I ended up meeting him at the right place and we laughed about it. That is when he first discovered I was horrible at directions.”

Steven added, “I’ll never forget seeing her skip up to me and give me a hug. It was an amazing first date.”

From there, their connection only grew stronger. Whether it was a concert date singing Sabrina Carpenter at the top of their lungs, or a romantic Valentine’s dinner where Steven surprised Ashley with a necklace she wears every day, their relationship has been filled with an abundance of thoughtfulness, fun, and love.

Rockwall Plaza Proposal and Engagement Session

Choosing Rockwall plaza for their engagement session wasn’t just about the gorgeous views by the water—it’s their place. It’s where Steven first asked Ashley to be his girlfriend (which she thought was a joke because, well… second date! Ha! But as they say – when you know – you just know!) And when it came time to propose, he brought her back to the same spot.

Ashley told me: “He recreated our first and second date. It was so great because we were reminiscing on how we first met and how far we have come. I did not expect him to do it that day so it was such a great surprise!” How sweet and thoughtful is that?

Their Hearts

Ashley and Steven’s love and admiration for one another is clear in every moment they share. You can’t not fall in love with their love when you’re around them. It’s absolutely contagious.

I asked them at one point what they admired most about each other and their answers melted my heart.

Ashley shared, “His heart. He genuinely LOVES and CARES for his people deeply. I can rely on him and trust him 100%. He is so hardworking and a natural born leader. He also does an amazing job at balancing his mentally and physically exhausting career with being funny and relaxed at home. He’s goofy, hardworking, and loving.”

Steven said, “Her attitude, her positive look on life, the way she spoils me, and her love for wanting a family. She’s loving, caring and always positive.”

Together, they describe their relationship as fun, loving, and a little crazy—and honestly, what’s better than that?

Wedding Day Excitement

As I’m finishing writing this, I’m also getting ready to photograph their elopement later today at Fellowship Church in Dallas! These two were originally planning to get married tomorrow at the Tarrant County Courthouse, but due to this crazy Texas storm blowing in, they moved it up at the last minute. Talk about rolling with the punches!

But, I’m a firm believer that everything happens for a reason. When I asked them what they were most excited about with their upcoming wedding – they both shared the same sentiment: “I just can’t wait to marry my soulmate!” And evidently, the world couldn’t wait either! These two were destined to be married just THAT much sooner! And I couldn’t be more excited to celebrate with them today!
