Love often arrives unexpectedly. For Marzenna and Jeff, it happened through a match on eHarmony. This year, that match led to a beautiful Azle TX wedding at Stoney Ridge Villa! As a Dallas wedding photographer, it was my pleasure to capture their beautiful day. Let’s dive into this love story in more detail!
A Good Match
Jeff had been on eHarmony on and off. Marzenna’s friends inspired her to join in the summer of 2021. Jeff quickly matched with Marzenna, however, she only had one picture (with giant sunglasses and a giant handbag). So Jeff spent a few days opening her very concise profile and wondering what her eyes looked like, before finally deciding to reach out and break the ice.
After both having been divorced for many years. Neither of them EVER thought they would marry again. But, to each of their great surprise, after just a few dates that consisted of chatting until midnight, they quickly realized they’d found “the one”. CUE ALL THE “AWWWW’S”.
About the Proposal
In the early summer of 2022, Jeff was absolutely certain he had finally met “his person” (Marzenna felt the same) and so he decided to propose. He purchased a ring and started his search for a unique proposal idea. Over dinner one evening, one of Jeff’s friends (who owns a small plane) started a discussion about small planes and Marzenna mentioned to Jeff that it would be fun to fly in one one day. Jeff learned about a private service that would fly clients for a nighttime flight over Dallas – and the idea for the proposal was born.
Jeff planned this surprise of an evening for July 1, 2022. First, a romantic dinner at Kenny’s Wood Fired Grill. Then to the Addison airport. Marzenna then learned of the flight (not suspecting a proposal at all). After flying around Downtown and seeing the incredible Dallas skyline at night, the pilot headed up the Dallas North Tollway to Frisco, giving Jeff the queue on the headset. They were about to fly over their next surprise: in an empty field in Frisco they were going to fly over an 8-foot-tall lit-up sign saying: Marry Me.
The Big Moment
After flying around the Dallas Cowboys’ training camp, the pilot descended, banking the plane while asking “What is that down on the ground?” Marzenna voiced to herself: “Marry me, hmm, that’s nice.” Thinking, how sweet it was that someone was getting proposed to tonight. The pilot then continued circling again and again.
Jeff soon realized that it wasn’t clicking for Marzenna that the sign was, in fact, for her. Ha! So, he pulled the ring out of his pocket, turned towards her, did his best to take a knee, and asked, “Well, will you marry me?” Marzenna was quiet, processing what was happening and then it clicked! The happy tears began to flow and she shouted “Yes!”
Fun Facts:
• Marzenna and Jeff both lived within a mile of each other in Plano, TX in the mid-90s – but never crossed paths.
• Marzenna then lived across the alley from one of their mutual friends. Jeff visited circa 2003 never knowing his future wife lived in the house right behind him! How wild to be so close over the years, but not officially cross paths and meet until over 20 years later! When the timing was just right for both of them.
The Azle TX Wedding at Stoney Ridge Villa
Jeff and Marzenna got married at Stoney Ridge Villa, in Azle TX. He loved the rolling hills. She loved the architectural style and the hilltop view. For both of them, it just felt right.
We were a tad nervous leading up to the day, because it was predicted to be hot—very hot—but Mother Nature was smiling down on them and their wedding day! It couldn’t have been a more beautiful day.
The day was perfect and filled with so much love – I couldn’t be happier for them! Thank you to Marzenna and Jeff for the great pleasure and honor of documenting your big day!
