From him: “We first met in my high school Drama class.  She was my TA and I’m pretty sure the first time we spoke was when she gave me notes on the monologue I screamed at her.  (“He yelled his monologue in my face to be precise.  A monologue about a psychopathic kidnapper lol” – from her.)  It’s amazing how we never met before. Because she lived down the street from me for about 10 years.“

First Date

From her:  “On our first date we went to dinner and movie. Hopped to Wreck It Ralph and Twilight. Weird mix, I know!“

From him:  “If you ask me, our first date was 16 months before we started officially dating. I’m going to tell you something that she hates to admit. But I chased her for 16 months before she finally said yes to dating me.  In those 16 long months she denied me 4 times…4 TIMES!! And I still kept coming back.  You may think I’m a stalker, but that’s just how heals I was for this girl.

Finally, for her birthday on the 16th month I took her on a helicopter ride over the beach. Speed racing and to a nice Italian dinner.  That must have done the trick! Because a week later I decided to go for it and just kiss her. And it worked! Quite well may I add. She finally saw how much I cared about her. Then, we then had our first date where we went to dinner and movie hopping.“

The Proposal

From him:  “Well, she left to Massachusetts for a summer internship for 3 months!  And while she was gone I was able to save up enough for the ring.  I designed the ring and had one of my best friend’s dad hand-make it for me. He is a jeweler.  I had this whole thing planned out for a nice walk on the beach at sunset in Redondo. Then, after I proposed I’d take her to a nice beach side dinner. As well as to a nice hotel I had reserved.  

So, the day came when I was to pick her up from the airport and as we were driving “home” I asked if she wanted to stop by the beach for a little while.  She said no because she was too tired. There goes all my plans out the window.  If you’re reading this guys: make sure to have a plan B.“

From her:  “So instead of proposing to me at the beach, he had to settle for the Marriott near Redondo Beach. I had just finished changing into my pjs when I tried to push him on the bed and he wouldn’t let me. He’s big and I’m small so I couldn’t overpower him. Then he made me sit on the bed after which he kneeled. Took my hand and took off my promise ring saying, “This ring is too small to fit all my love for you! So I thought it was time to get you something big enough to hold it all.  So Miss Cota…[a tear falls from his eye, jk, my eye] WILL YOU MARRY ME?!”  And of course I say let’s wait 16 more months, jk, haha I said YES!“

Monrovia Canyon Park Engagement

From him:  “This girl is like no one I have ever known. She is kind, loving and sincere. She can make me laugh when no one else can!  She is not shy and can easily make friends with all of my friends. And my friends all lover her too.  She is beautiful and her smile lights up my life. Also, her butt. :)“

From her:  “I love the way he makes me laugh!! And I love his personality and how he is weird and dorky just like me! I love that he always makes me feel safe and his constant persistence to fight for what he wants. Never have I met anyone who is as kind, sincere and who cares about his family and friends as much as he does! Especially his dad. And of course his butt, lol. And most of all I love his ability to love people unconditionally!“

True Love

From her:  “I love that we can talk to each other about ANYTHING. Whether it be about family matters or how we are gonna grow old together. And have a contest as to whose butt will sag first!  I also love how we can be sitting on the couch being complete dorks with each other and feeling completely happy! Honestly, I love the mornings when we simply lie down with each other and talk about random things like life and our future. Also, how ridiculous our dog is as she stares at us from the foot of the bed, begging to come up!“

From him:  “Our relationship is literally weird.  We are the weirdest people that I know and its awesome!!  I love how comfortable we are around each other and that we aren’t afraid to do things because we are embarrassed.  We don’t fight very often because we understand each other and want to find the best way to make things work for both of us.  My favorite thing to do with her is to take all the pillows off the couch, and just lie there and hold her while we watch a movie.  Everything else just doesn’t matter in that moment.“
