Shannon and Michael flew in from New York specifically to have their engagement photos captured with the iconic downtown Dallas skyline. Having been her home growing up, it was important to them to capture photos in a place that tied in more of their full love story. And a place that was really meaningful to her.
I absolutely loved getting to know them during their session. And they have such a cute story that I’m excited to share with you!
Dallas Skyline Engagement Session
How They Met
After first connecting on a dating app over Star Wars, Shannon and Michael met up at a cookie dough place in Washington Square Park. Shannon said, “We then walked around the park discussing our interests and decided to get dinner at a Mexican restaurant. We ended up connecting and talking for hours!”
Immediately after their first date, Michael said, “I went to meet up with my best friend Chris who would later tell Shannon that I was the happiest he’d ever seen me.”
A Surprise Proposal
When Shannon mentioned that she wanted to be surprised, Chris masterminded the proposal! Taking heavy precautions to make sure no hints were dropped: “I threw her off the scent in the months leading up to it by dropping hints that I was unsure of what to do or that I misjudged her tastes.”
All the preparations went according to plan as Chris pulled out the ring on Christmas morning. He gifted Shannon’s mom a Christmas ornament of a blonde bride who looked suspiciously like Shannon! Shannon recounts, “Michael asked my mom, ‘Do you know why I got you that, Tuddy?’ My mom smiled and nodded and then Michael got down on one knee in front of me.”
Chris remembers, “Shannon curled up into a tiny ball in her seat and said yes.” Shannon says, “I’m sure every bride says that they admire everything about their fiancé…and I do. He is everything I imagined and more.”
Engagements with the Downtown Dallas Skyline
When it came time to photograph their engagements, I scoured the metroplex for the perfect spot. It was important to her that all of the iconic buildings in the skyline were visible. Ultimately they ended up choosing Trinity Overlook Park for this reason specifically. And I couldn’t be more thrilled with how it all turned out!
Not only did we get the perfect angle on the skyline, but the day was just stunning. The beautiful clouds were a nice addition to the glittering blues of the city which contrasted perfectly with the park’s green grass and bridges.
If Shannon and Michael’s beautiful engagement session has you daydreaming about capturing your own love story against the stunning downtown Dallas skyline! Don’t hesitate to reach out!
