Before we dive into Erin and Jake’s elegant Montclair venue wedding, I wanted to share their sweet proposal story first. If you missed their engagement blog, you can catch up on the beginning of their love story HERE!
The Proposal
From Jake: “I planned the proposal for about a year. It started with the ring, I researched every diamond store in DFW and made a spreadsheet of over 5,000 rings/prices. I then took Erin’s not so subtle hints on the shape and style to dial it in from there. As the ring was in progress, I had to figure out a way to ask and decided to do it on our family trip to Cancun. My dad and I worked almost every day finding the perfect hotel in Cancun for the proposal. Once that was completed, I had to figure out a way to ask her parents without Erin knowing – which was more difficult to figure out, but I managed.”
The day of the proposal…
From her: “One night in Cancun we were taking our family pictures and as we were walking down these steps, they were all decorated. I was like ‘oh my gosh, someone is getting married tonight!’ and he was like ‘mmhm…’. He then tries to get me to go in the sand, but I’m wearing wedges and I’m like ‘Jake you try walking in sand in wedges… no, it’s not happening’ and he’s like ‘just for a minute’.
Further down there was a heart made of 400 roses and lights everywhere… (Jake: “Earlier that day we went to buy Erin roses and bought every rose in Cancun! My friends/family set the proposal area up perfectly!”) Jake wanted me to go in the heart and I was like ‘we can’t just go in someone’s stuff, that’s rude’ and he’s like ‘just for a minute’ lol. So we did and then I don’t even know what he said because I blacked out when I realized what he was doing!” Ha! Well, the rest, as they say, was history!
The Montclair Venue Wedding Day
These two chose the stunning Montclair for their special day. This new venue is undeniably glamorous and the perfect location for those of us who love that French/European architecture/feel. From the light stone to the marble accents, the beautiful chandeliers, the arched windows, and gorgeous terrace – every detail of this venue radiates elegance. Which was the perfect backdrop for Erin and Jake’s gorgeous day! Not to mention their blush and navy color scheme was a beautiful fit!
When I asked them what they were most looking forward to about their wedding day, they responded “finally being married to my best friend!” And this was evident in every moment of the day. From the sweet love notes and gifts that they sent each other the morning of, to the way they beamed at each other as Erin walked down the aisle to Jake, and to the overwhelmingly sweet and genuine vows they made to one another. It was such a perfect day and I couldn’t have been more honored to capture it for them! Congratulations again, Erin & Jake!
